A Wealth of Community Service... The La Porte - Bayshore Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic and diverse organization that provides leadership to promote business, growth and development of the La Porte - Bayshore community. La Porte - Bayshore Chamber of Commerce Has Specific Goals and Objectives Improve Communications with Membership Increase Membership Involvement Actively Promote the Community/Shop La Porte Maintain a Coordinated Economic Development Strategy Market and Promote the Chamber Communicate the Value of Local Businesses to the Community Active Communication with Local Governments Within the framework of these goals and objectives, the Chamber has a number of teams, beginning with the Administrative Team, which oversees such things as budgeting, bylaws, policies and operations. The Membership Development Team oversees such activities as recruiting new members through an annual Membership Drive; providing a "Welcoming Committee" for  the Chamber through the Ambassador's group;  encouraging members participation; and educating new members on the services the chamber provides.  The Membership Activities Team oversees such activities as conducting "Business After Hours" gatherings where members can get together and share ideas; providing luncheons for further exchange of ideas and information; hosting two major gatherings each year - the Hamburger Cookout and the Steak Cookout; and hosting a New Teachers Luncheon to further promote the Chamber's continued support of the educational process in the community. The Community Development Team oversees such activities as the extremely popular Sylvan Beach Festival each year; hosting the annual and highly successful Salute to Industry event; support of the Partners In Education program; and coordination of the Leadership La Porte training program which fosters the development of community leaders. The Fundraising Team oversees such activities as the popular Casino Night which provides entertainment to the community and the Chamber Cruise.   Both of these activities help raise funds for the Chamber.   The Economic Development Team  oversees such activities as  encouraging Economic Development; providing resources to small businesses; keeping Chamber members informed on legislative matters impacting the area, in regard to government on city, county, state and federal levels, and also in regard to transportation issues and developing a web site to promote tourism providing and enhance member services; The Chamber encourages members to become active participants in these various programs.
